The white script kl. Ldg. on the body and a 2 cm white band painted across the base of the cartridge case means that the shell has a reduced propelling charged and its max. range is 6000 m

A white letter A on the ogive means that the propelling charge contains Amatol, which produces a lower initial velocity and is very sensitive in the heat producer

Remarks

In all model of H.E. shell (except K.Gr. Patr. 14) there are some additional marks:

– a green ring above the driving band means shell charged Füllpulver 60/40,

a yellow ring above the driving band means shell charged with Granatfüllung 88 and  Füllpulver 60/40,

– a vertical black stripe indicates shell without smoke producer (also in K.Gr. Patr. 14).
