Slow firing mortar. In 1897 Serbian Army ordered six mortars. They arrived during the autumn of 1900 and were modernized to use smokeless powder (probably in 1906 or 1907). When in 1910 new, modern howitzers were purchased, older M.97 series howitzers were relegated to “Heavy Regiment of Fortress Artillery”.
